FreeTaxUSA Is Your Best Friend This Upcoming Tax Season

Tax Season should not be stressful thanks to the plethora of modern tax software. As we approach tax season this year I wanted to make a short post about what software I use to do my taxes. I was led to believe (like many others) taxes are supposed to be painful. I was told taxes are supposed to be an all-consuming stress-inducing couple weeks of your life until it is over. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. I believe 99% of people are more than capable of doing their own taxes in as little as one hour. Don’t fall for the fear-mongering caused by Big Tax corporations and their ways of scaring you into having to rely on their services to get your taxes done. They purposefully lobby congress to make taxes increasingly difficult.

To make life easier on me I stick with FreeTaxUSA.com. Astonishingly, Their name holds true, at least when it comes to the Federal Tax Return. They charge you a whopping $0.00 to do your federal return through them and $12.95 for your state return. They are super easy to use, with simple step-by-step instructions. You can even opt in for their “Deluxe” package which includes Audit Protection in case you filled out your tax return incorrectly. All in all, you can do your taxes for less than $20!

Can’t spare $20? How about doing your taxes for free this season?

Let’s say $20 is something you aren’t able to spare and need to file your return for free. Lucky for you there is a free tool provided by the IRS if you meet certain income thresholds. Hop on over to the IRS website here to complete your free tax return.

I am writing this post and providing you with these resources because it is my personal mission that certain big name tax software corporations don’t succeed. They continuously screw over the little guy by complicating taxes and forcing you to go to them and spending hundreds of dollars to do a simple 1040 form.

Lastly, I am not a financial adviser nor am I sponsored by anyone. I’m a regular Jo hoping to make your tax season less stressful.
